    Dear Mario! Thanks for another useful material!
    Tip for the next tutorial video: I'm sure many people would appreciate a video where you explain how to match your equipment (board size, sail size, fin size, boom height, mast foot, harness line length) to your own capabilities (like weight, height) and wind conditions. It's a very complex thing I know, but there are some rules of thumb to help a beginner out.

    Hi Mario, I learned a few weeks ago, that it is better to have the ajustable side of the harnessline at the back side. Then you could easily control the rigg on the water with front hand and ajust with the back hand.
    Great videao as always. Thx

    Every video you make os more useful than the previous and i appreciate you even more. I think you have captured what is really needed from average windsurfer. Thank you for your knowledge . Please make more videos on slalom stance . Thank you

    Great video Mario, thank you. I’ve learnt heaps from this so really appreciate you taking the time to put it together. Great that you covered all aspects of the board and rig.

    Great short summary and funny! I liked the zoom near the end on your sideways head.
    I'm interested in the perspective on the fin. From my perspective as an intermediate/advanced freerider, I am not quite convinced that the fin is *that* important. Can't you adjust your stance and riding style if the fin is a tad bit off? So many people are seemingly saying good carbon fins are worth their weight in gold though, so I'm trying a Select S-Max Carbon fin myself to try and see if it's true. I'm switching from an MFC LIQUID PRO G-10 fin which seems to be everything you are saying is bad, and I hope I'll get a better experience now!
    I am also going to try adjust my battens a bit more. One near the top seems a bit "wishy-washy" if in very light wind, and doesn't hold still on the correct side. I have to imagine that's not helping me much unless I'm looking to reduce power. Maybe a looser batten than what I have is better? Or is that due to having too much outhaul? Not too sure, maybe it's unimportant if it only happens in 5 kts or less also.
    From what you're saying about outhaul, I may be pulling mine a little bit too tight...I've been going with the recommendation of low downhaul with high outhaul when using a regular windsurfing freeride sail as a windfoiling sail, but maybe the reason it's been feeling too twitchy is I've been respecting that rule of thumb too much. I may try a more moderate outhaul.

    Hi Mario, Thanks for making these awesome windsurf videos. I've noticed there are a few tests on RUclips about custom-made carbon fins, but no one has compared these hard-to-get and expensive fins with the Rhino Pro from Select yet. I would be very interested to see how the Rhino Pro performs in comparison to the custom-made fins. What's your opinion about the Rhino Pro in comparison with custom fins? Does it generate good lift for example?

      I will answer the question in a future video. I was planing to do that anyway, but would be great to measure the exact speed differences!

      Select Hydrofoils are very good fins, manufactured in a very repetitive way. They can be used by competitors… unfortunately for me the lineup for weed does not the competitiveness I needed… but I am certain that my carbon Hurricanes fin which met several rocks is much worse than a new select.😅

    Well done man for trying to make a very complicated aspect of windsurfing (trimming etc) in a no fuss and straight manner, bravo! Got to enhance your point about fins: they are soooo important, actually often underrated, as for carbon fins, another world indeed, just try for yourself (for those who haven’t yet or criticise it) and you’ll see “the light” too, peace 🤙🏻💙🤙🏻

    I think you can't talk too much about the different possibilities of rigging and base positions.
    The implemtation of the possibilities can change the feeling, during the saison, completely.

    Hi Mario, great Video and and good summary of the key tuning tips. I usually have for each sail my personal best fitting fin. Maybe you remember the weird guy who ordered the Select S1 Rhino in your shop to use a JP FSW in lightwind conditions. I'm still going with one board from 4-9 Beaufort.

      Hey Jochen, which fsw you go for and how heavy are you. I am 82 kg and want to get a new one fits all for mainly choppy conditions. Thinking about the new 100 magic move from JP.

      @klimaanlagenjochen 18 дней назад

      @@xman699 , I have 70kg and am using the 94 LXT. 2021 there haven't been the magic move. But the LXT-version can be used with a Foil. Today I would also choose the magic move or the comparable board from Patrik.

  • @FrancoisTCS
    @FrancoisTCS 20 дней назад +1

    You need to mention it is very important nowadays to match the mast with the sail as per the recommendation of the manufacturer. The curve is important, the % of carbon is less, when not competing and/or very experienced. Example with duotone, rich amateur take the gold for cambered sail i.e. S_Pace, amateur beginner silver is good enough for E_Pace… try not to mix brands… it can kill the sail response.

      Its just that specific fin - about other products from MFC I do not want to judge, maybe they are really good.
      I tried this fin and it was neither fast nor did I feel like it gave a grippy, raily feeling. There are other fins that offer much better performance. I Hope I did not hurt any feelings... :D

    Thank you, this is super helpful. On another topic I use a Dakine seat harness as I have some shoulder issues and a lower boom does not bother my shoulder as much. Could you recommend a life vest or impact vest that will not interfere with my harness hook?

    Great video Mario, thanks. A question however: do you change your settings while being out on the water ? If so is that often then or a rare occurrence ? Or do you always go back on shore to change the set up?
    Thanks

    • @MarioKuempel
      @MarioKuempel  17 дней назад

      I do that when I get new equipment to find the right trim. From there on I do minor adjustments, but yes, I change things everything the trim feels wrong.

    Seems to me whenever I try to get my board to fly (eg lower boom or more fwd mast base) my front foot wants to fly out of the strap.

    • @MarioKuempel
      @MarioKuempel  17 дней назад +1

      This can happen when either your fin does not work correctly or your board does not fit to your sail. Sailing stance wise I recommend to focus on bending your back leg.😊
